Meet the FinLeap-Team: Julia Grasse, HR Manager People Services
Julia Grasse holds the position of HR Manager – People Services at FinLeap. She joined the company builder in April 2016.
Julia strikes all her colleagues with her excitement. She says, it is triggered by the lack of repetition in her work – she has a new, interesting task every day that allows her to work with people and find solutions for FinLeap and its ventures.
Initially joining HitFox in the beginning of 2015, Julia transition into FinLeap in April 2016 as the HR Manager – People Services. As such, she is responsible for onboardings, answering employee questions, payroll, and collaboration with the management teams of FinLeap’s ventures. Moreover, she works with half of our ventures to make sure their employees feel at home in the office. Julia learned about HitFox and FinLeap through a former colleague with whom she worked in HR in an e-commerce company. Being originally from Northern Germany, Julia finished her Master’s degree in Social and Organizational Education and, then, moved to Berlin. Today, we interviewed her about her past experiences, candidates, and her recent projects.
FinLeap.com: How does FinLeap differ from your past experiences?
Julia: At FinLeap, I have more responsibilities than at my previous job, because I was just a working student there. Here, I have new tasks every day which makes my time in the office fun.
FinLeap.com: As a part of the HR department, what is the most important trait you look for in a candidate?
Julia: I like candidates who act natural – at interviews I’m not looking for someone who can list all of his experiences; I’m looking for someone who knows what he did, knows why he loved it, and knows what he wants to do in the future.
FinLeap.com: What’s your favorite part of the candidate experience?
Julia: When I read a CV, I always try to picture the person who applies for the position. When I then get to meet the candidate and learn more about him in real life, it is always very exciting to compare my picture and the real person.
FinLeap.com: Can you describe something recent you worked on?
Julia: As a bigger project, I recently worked with the HR team to improve our tools. A few weeks ago, I also started to have a bigger focus on recruiting. Currently, we’re looking for people in many departments including People & Organization which makes it interesting.
Apart from her work, Julia enjoys hanging out with the people she loves and traveling – she has the goal of visiting all European capitals (her last destination was Athens).
