Meet the FinLeap-Team: Martin Held, Data Scientist
Martin Held holds the position of Data Scientist at FinLeap. He joined the company builder in August 2014.
Throughout his two years and four months at FinLeap, Martin has collaborated with a variety of ventures on topics ranging from user behavior analysis to the exploration of software architectures.
Martin joined FinLeap in August 2014 after hunting for a job in Berlin that suits his quantitative background.. As a Data Scientist, he is responsible for setting up data pipelines for the ventures, building the technical solutions to the business models, and consulting on data analytics and reporting. Originally from Cottbus, Germany, Martin moved to Berlin for his studies. He now holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science from Australia, a Master’s Degree in Computational Biology and a PhD in Computational Physics. Today, we interviewed Martin about FinLeap, his previous experiences, and his recent projects.
FinLeap.com: You’ve been a part of FinLeap for more than two years. What’s your favorite feature of the company?
Martin: I like the mix of international people who have a great level of professionalism.
FinLeap.com: How does FinLeap differ from your previous experiences?
Martin: FinLeap is more agile with a greater hands-on approach. The attitude through the company is one that gets things done. Also, there is less of a hierarchy here.
FinLeap.com: What’s one of the last projects you worked on?
Martin: I supported Elinvar by structuring the software development process and facilitating with the setup of the infrastructure.
FinLeap.com: What’s your favorite aspect of your job?
Martin: The great opportunity to learn new things every day. In these digital business models, thinking about data storage from the very beginning is crucial which gives me the opportunity to have a significant contribution early on.
In addition to enjoying his work at FinLeap, Martin loves spending time with his family.
